General Merchandise Web Team description
Over the last couple of years GM has been at the forefront of web development at Ocado. We've built a brand new flexible ecommerce platform, launched two businesses, as well as Ocado's first and only responsive webshop.
We work in cross-functional teams on an up-to-date tech stack to build the department store, which powers Ocado's sister sites fetch.co.uk, sizzle.co.uk and our upcoming premium beauty collaboration with Marie Claire.

Who you areYou are a Full Stack Developer with a passion for both frontend and backend. Java is your primary language, but you also love flexibility of JavaScript with all its idiosyncrasies. You take pride in delivering top to bottom solutions and you know what it takes to deliver functionally all the way to the user. You understand that change is the only constant in this fast paced industry, and that excites you. You will enjoy working closely with a team of backend and frontend developers, and you strive to deliver world class web and mobile solutions. You are not afraid to dive into any kind of code in the project, where it be Java, SQL or CSS. What you'll do
• Participate in all aspects of agile application development, from design through Java business logic to advanced JavaScript and styling on the frontend.
• Create maintainable, reusable and scalable backend code using Java and Spring framework.
• Work closely with the rest of the GM team to develop clean interfaces, using HTML5, CSS3/SASS and Angular.js framework.
• Work with internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle and ensure project work is completed to brief and timescales.
• Keep a keen eye on the latest industry trends and techniques and apply them as part of your day-to-day work.
• Work as part of a cross-functional team in an agile development environment
Your skills and experience should include:
• Experienced as full stack developer in a cross functional team
• Excellent knowledge of Java and JavaScript
• Ability to create high quality code no matter what language you're using
• Experience with the Spring framework
• Working knowledge of HTML5, accessibility and web standards
• Modern CSS techniques and frontend assets processing
• Angular.js experience
• Team player with good communication skills
• Quick-learner
Nice to have:
• AWS platform, including Elastic Beanstalk, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, S3 etc.
• Experience with Microservices
• Knowledge of SCRUM or other Agile methodologies
• Not afraid of challenging projects
• Working experience with Bootstrap, Foundation
